New research from a Hearts & Wallets study suggests that investors are thinking differently about the meaning of retirement — and, in fact, many don’t plan to retire at all. In this new economic climate, financial advice aimed at retirees or those approaching retirement may not hit home. Even among those who do plan to retire, there is a much greater demand for advice that offers financial stability and guaranteed lifetime income. What investors really want is the ability to plan for the unexpected, understand Social Security, explore new pricing mechanisms, and consider annuities and other traditionally safe products.
