The Addi’s Cure 2010 annual golf outing, held at the conclusion of the NAFA Annuity Summit in Houston in late October, raised just over $33,000 for lung cancer research. More than 30 players participated in the tournament, held at the Golf Club at Cinco Ranch.

The Addi’s Cure Foundation, named after Bo and Christi Johnson’s daughter Addi, was started in 2006 after Bo, the popular Chief Marketing Officer at Financial Independence Group in Charlotte, N.C., was diagnosed with lung cancer at the age of 35, despite having never been a smoker. He passed away in December 2009. Bo helped FIG Marketing grow from a small company to become one of the most recognized marketing companies in the nation.

The event was a huge success, and all of the tournament winners graciously donated their winnings back to the foundation. “We are deeply grateful that we work in an industry where people have such a desire to serve. Because of [tournament participants and sponsors], the total amount raised for Addi’s Cure was $33,027. We know that Christi and Addi (both pictured) are grateful to you as well,” said event organizers Steve Kerns and Carolyn Luby in a post-tournament statement.
