The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has issued the first edition of its Accident and Health Policy Experience Report.
The report’s findings include these:
–In 2009, the top 10 companies in the overall accident and health market (individual, group and other) business accounted for 45.5% percent of the total business.
–Total premiums increased by 15% to $214 billion from 2008 to 2009.
–The number of policies rose by 2.6%, while the number of covered lives fell by 7% from 2008 to 2009.
