Boomers may work until they die, but, according to new research from the American Psychological Association, the longer they work, the later that time will come. The findings, published in the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, suggest boomers who are considering retiring also consider a “bridge” career to help with the transition – physically and mentally.
For a mental benefit, boomers shouldn’t look too far beyond their current career for their bridge job, while any work at all was associated with “fewer major diseases and functional limitations.”
