The International Foundation for Retirement Education says its Certified Retirement Counselor certification has met National Commission of Certifying Agencies accreditation standards.

NCCA standards for independent certification programs cover governance, responsibility to stakeholders, exam process, and recertification, according to InFRE, Lubbock, Texas.

The CRC was established in 1999 by InFRE and developed with the Center for Financial Responsibility at Texas Tech University, Lubbock. It is designed to help retirement professionals understand the issues and risks facing retirees, and help pre-retirees in individual, private employer and government employer retirement plans become more retirement ready.

The NCCA is an arm of the National Organization for Competency Assurance, Washington.
