Many consumers say access to a payment card is an important factor to consider when they are deciding whether to sign up for personal health account programs.

Marketing executives at Evolution Benefits Inc., Avon, Conn., a company that runs health account payment card networks, have released that finding in a summary of results from a survey of 873 workers at 10 large employers.

The survey participants are using cards to draw benefits from flexible spending accounts and other types of health accounts.

About 66% said availability of a payment card was a consideration when they enrolled in the health account program, and 75% said availability of a payment card was the primary reason, Evolution says.
