MassMutual’s Retirement Services Division, Springfield, Mass., has announced the official debut of the MassMutual RetireSmartSM Academy, an interactive online resource designed to create a more personal educational experience for its retirement plan participants.

MassMutual’s RetireSmart Academy is accessible from the home page of The JourneySM, MassMutual’s participant Web site. Here, participants can review account-specific information, perform transactions, and now, enjoy a fun and educational interactive experience that can help them make good financial decisions as they plan and save for retirement.

A full suite of materials including a variety of calculators, interactive charts, audio tutorials, and in-depth articles enables participants to explore a variety of topics related to planning and saving for retirement. For example:

  • Interactive tutorials with audio support and charts allow participants to review scenarios based on their own personal situation.
  • Calculators help participants explore how changes to their personal finances might impact their long-term savings goals.
  • Educational articles on a variety of retirement planning topics reinforce key concepts and provide “action tips.”

“Today more than ever before, participants have a heightened awareness of the importance of planning and saving for retirement,” says E. Heather Smiley, vice president of marketing communications for MassMutual’s Retirement Services Division. “MassMutual’s RetireSmart Academy uses a personal, engaging and intuitive interface to help participants make more informed retirement decisions.”

“MassMutual also recognizes the valuable role that plan sponsors, advisors and third-party administrators often play in the educational process,” says Elaine Sarsynski, executive vice president of MassMutual’s Retirement Services Division and chairman and CEO of MassMutual International LLC. “As such, MassMutual’s RetireSmart Academy lets them access these valuable resources via the MassMutual Web site. For example, sponsors and advisors can log in and present brief seminars to small groups. MassMutual’s RetireSmart Academy is a powerful way to reinforce their efforts with fun and engaging educational material.”

MassMutual plans to introduce additional financial planning content and concepts later in 2009 and on an ongoing basis. For more information, visit MassMutual at www.massmutual.com/retire.
