Jim Moffett, lead manager of the UMB Scout International Fund and the UMB Scout International Discovery Fund, has more than 35 years experience in investment management, during which time he has held a number of different positions.
Twice a runner-up for Morningstar’s International Fund Manager of the Year award (2005 and 2007), Moffett is a member of the CFA Institute and the Kansas City CFA Society. He has a B.A. in history from Harvard and an M.B.A. from Stanford.
Moffett and his wife collect regional American art, paintings from the 1930s and 1940s. “We go to auctions and dealers, but a lot of it coincides with what I call the UMB Footprint,” he says. “The bank [UMB Financial, based in Kansas City, Missouri) goes from St. Louis to Denver, and that’s where our art collection goes.”
