Aside from SSI funds, I have minimal other investments and have accepted that I will probably be at a much lower standard of living than I have today. However, I don’t intend to live in fear of not having enough money and am not letting it dictate my current lifestyle. I have made the personal decision to try and enjoy the next 10 to 15 years and suffer the consequences later.”

Honestly, I hadn’t really thought about it until now. I’ve got a 401(k) and an IRA, so I hope that’s enough. If it isn’t, I guess I’ll be working my way to the grave.”

I just met with my sister’s financial advisor, who really made it clear that the way we’re living now, we won’t have any money at all for retirement. So now we’ve decided to downsize our house, pay off the mortgage on our new house, and put the extra money into some investments he recommended. I’m still not sure how long the money will last. But at least we’re doing
something about it now – finally.”
