ING Employee Benefits has introduced a product that can protect insureds against the risk of serious health problems.

Critical illnesses and conditions that can trigger payment of benefits include coma, kidney failure, heart attack, major organ failure, permanent paralysis and stroke.

Employers can add cancer coverage to their plans or buy cancer only coverage on a stand-alone basis.

An occupational HIV benefit rider can pay a lump-sum of $10,000 for insureds who are diagnosed with occupational HIV.

Employers with more than 500 eligible employees that meet participation requirements can offer the coverage on a guaranteed issue basis.

ING Employee Benefits is issuing the critical illness policy through its ReliaStar Life Insurance Company unit.
