The Connecticut Insurance Department is asking private companies to bid on transforming its consumer affairs division.

The Connecticut department wants the winning firm to develop a plan to establish a “state-of-the-art” consumer affairs division and recommend opportunities to improve the division.

The winning bidder also should help set up processes for collecting complaints and generating complaint reports, the department says.

The department wants the winning bidder to start the work by Jan. 2, 2008, and complete the work by Oct. 31, 2008, but it is willing to consider requests to extend the contract.

The due date for proposals is Oct. 26.
