Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company is trying to use women's concerns about their health to get them to think about their finances.

MassMutual, Springfield, Mass., says it will be making a contribution to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation on behalf of each individual who attends its Pearls of Wisdom financial education seminars, which are aimed primarily at women, in the 8 cities that will host the 2007 Danskin Women's Triathlon Series.

In October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, MassMutual will contribute $3,000 to a local cancer organization on behalf of each MassMutual agency that sponsors a Pearls of Wisdom seminar.

MassMutual also will be distributing brochures that emphasize that it sells affordable life insurance to many women who have survived breast cancer, and it will offer breast cancer education activities aimed at its own employees.

The 2006 MassMutual breast cancer awareness campaign raised about $110,000 in donations in 25 states in connection with 90 Pears of Wisdom seminars, MassMutual estimates.
