A giant insurer says its famous spokesdeer is about to appear in TV commercials aimed at baby boomers who need help with retirement planning.

The Hartford Stag will show up in a commercial in a new “Prepare To Live” campaign starting Thursday, according to Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford.

In addition to the Stag, the commercial will include a husband and wife driving to their dream retirement villa in the mountains as the B-52s’ song “Love Shack” plays in the background, Hartford says.

The new commercial is scheduled to run during the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I men’s basketball tournament and during other televised professional golf and college football events.

Hartford also plans to run print ads tied to the campaign in publications such as Time, Newsweek and The New Yorker.

The commercial and the print ads were developed by Campbell Mithun, Minneapolis.
