Equity-Indeed Annuities Share Soars

Sales of equity-indexed annuities comprised nearly 30% of all annuities sold last year, up nearly 500% since 2002, according to a recent survey.[@@]

Financial Research Corp. and Beacon Research, both of Boston, conducted the study, which examined EIA sales strategies for insurers and wholesalers.

Sales of these products accounted for nearly 30% of total annuity sales in 2004, up from just 6% in 2002, FRC reports.
