A Hartford health insurer has announced 2 major changes to its plan administration technology.[@@]

The insurer, Aetna Inc., is modernizing the claims process for holders of cafeteria plans, flexible spending accounts and health reimbursement arrangements, and it is setting up a new Web site for its behavioral health operation.

Aetna is changing its FSA and HRA claims process by putting Flexible Benefit Service Corp., Rosemont, Ill., in charge of a new, “paperless” claims submission system.

When doctors, pharmacies and dentists submit electronic FSA or HRA claims to Aetna, Aetna will forward the claims to Flexible Benefit, and Flexible Benefit will be able to process many of clean claims within 24 hours of receiving the transfers, Flexible Benefit says.

Aetna itself has set up the new behavioral health Web site at http://www.aetnabehavioralhealth.com

The new site offers educational materials for consumers and employers and self-service tools for counselors and other behavioral health providers, Aetna says.
