A large Illinois managed care company has licensed use of clinical care guidelines from a unit of Milliman USA, Seattle.[@@]

Health Care Service Corp., Chicago, the parent company of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies in Illinois, New Mexico and Texas, has paid for the rights to use the Milliman guidelines in Illinois and New Mexico.

The products include Milliman’s ambulatory care, inpatient and surgical care, recovery facility care, home care and general recovery guidelines.

Illinois Blue and New Mexico Blue will be using the guidelines to review patient claims and identify high-risk patients, Milliman says.
