NU Online News Service, March 15, 2004, 1:22 p.m. EST – Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company, Columbia, S.C., has introduced a hospital confinement indemnity insurance policy that includes some coverage for doctor’s office visits.[@@]

Colonial will be selling the policy through the worksite through payroll-deduction payment programs.

Workers who buy the policy can choose between $500 to $2,000 in hospital confinement coverage and $500 to $2,000 in outpatient surgery benefits.

The policy can pay benefits of $25 or $50 for up to 4 doctor’s office visits per year for single insureds and up to 6 doctor’s office visits per year for insureds who buy family coverage.

Workers who pay extra can get benefits for diagnostic tests, such as $100 in benefits for a colonoscopy, and up to $100 in emergency room visit benefits.
