Baum Now Chief Deputy At California Department

NU Online News Service, July 8, 2003, 12:25 p.m. EDT – The California Department of Insurance has named Richard Baum, a Mill Valley, Calif., resident, to be chief deputy insurance commissioner.

Baum will run the day-to-day operations of the department and help develop department policies.

Baum ran the transition team for John Garamendi, California’s insurance commissioner, and he was Garamendi’s chief deputy commissioner during Garamendi’s first term, back in the early 1990s.

Baum has a bachelor’s degree in history from Stanford University and a law degree from George Washington University.
