NU Online News Service, June 26, 2003, 3:43 p.m. EDT – Nationwide Financial Services Inc., Columbus, Ohio, says it has combined the Nationwide Financial and Nationwide Provident retirement plan sales forces.

Nationwide Financial acquired Nationwide Mutual — the old Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company, Berwyn, Pa. — in October 2002.

In the past, Nationwide Financial focused on 401(k) plans and other types of defined contribution plans, while Nationwide Provident offered defined benefit plans as well as defined contribution plans, Nationwide Financial says.

The combined retirement operation will sell both types of plans, Nationwide Financial says.
