ProxyMed Signs Aetna

NU Online News Service, July 8, 4:33 p.m. – ProxyMed Inc., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., a physician health care transaction processing service, has announced an agreement with Aetna Inc., Hartford, to give physicians in Aetna’s network a way to submit medical claims online. The system will also give physicians and hospitals in the network the ability to verify eligibility and receive electronic remittance advice, referrals and authorizations.

ProxyMed expects the system to be up and running by September for claims submission and by the fourth quarter of this year for the other services.

ProxyMed uses a technology it calls Focus to help health plans identify and convert small physician practices to electronic transactions, from paper-based systems.
