NU Online News Service, Oct. 16, 12:05 p.m. – Minnesota insurance regulators are giving a three-month extension to the 34,000 insurance agents in the state whose licenses were set to expire Oct. 31.

The licenses will now remain in effect until Jan. 29, 2002, because a public employee strike that just ended has prevented the state Department of Commerce from processing license renewals, regulators say.

The extension applies only to agents who submit the necessary license renewal forms and fees to regulators by Oct. 31.

Minnesota insurance agent licenses are effective for two years.
