Mutual of Omaha Begins Building Headquarters Tower

The 44-story tower will feature a sky lobby for employees starting on floors 16 through 20.

Mutual of Omaha began construction Wednesday of a 44-story tower that will add 800,000 square feet to its headquarters office space in downtown Omaha, Nebraska.

The policyholder-owned mutual insurer already has 1.7 million square feet of office space in Omaha.

Mutual of Omaha sells life insurance, Medicare supplement insurance, long-term care insurance, annuities and other life and health products. It might be best known to the general public as the sponsor of the Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom wildlife TV show.

The company reported $158 million in statutory net income for the first three quarters of 2022 on $3.1 billion in revenue and $42 billion in assets.

The new building will have 2,200 parking spaces. When employees come in, they will go to a “sky lobby” on floors 16 through 20. The sky lobby will feature places to eat, a fitness center, meeting spaces and landscaped outdoor terraces, according to Mutual of Omaha.

There will also be conference facilities in a two-story atrium on top of the building.
