F&G Names a CFO: Personnel Moves

The American College board has two new officers.

A growing annuity seller has a new chief financial officer.

F&G — a Des Moines, Iowa-based annuity issuer that’s now part of Fidelity National Financial — has promoted Wendy JB Young to CFO, from chief risk officer.

She succeeds John Fleurant.

Young began working for F&G in 2000, as an actuary.

She has a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University. She is a fellow in the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Other insurance organizations also have personnel moves news this week.

The American College

The board of the American College of Financial Services has picked John Howard to be the new chair and Salene Hitchcock-Gear to be vice chair.

The American College is a nonprofit financial services school in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

Howard is the chairman and CEO at Truist Insurance Holdings and chief insurance officer at Truist Financial Corp. In addition to serving on the American College board, he is an overseer of the Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science at St. John’s University.

He started out at Alex. Brown & Sons and later worked for GE Capital, Conseco and Prudential before moving to Crump, which later became part of Truist.

He has a bachelor’s degree from Columbia and a master’s degree in business from Duke University, and he is a Navy veteran.

Hitchcock-Gear is president of Prudential Individual Life Insurance.

She started out in insurance at Ameritas Investment Corp. and Acacia Life Insurance Co., then headed to Prudential in 2017. She represents Prudential as a director on the Women Presidents’ Organization Advisory Board and sits on the Life Insurance Committee of the American Council of Life Insurers.

Hitchcock-Gear has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a law degree from New York University
