Lacrecia Cade to Lead Atlanta Life

She was previously a brand and strategy executive at Aflac.

The board of Atlanta Life Insurance has named Lacrecia Cade the company’s new president and CEO.

Cade succeeds Skip Spriggs. Roosevelt Giles continues to be chairman of the board.

Alonzo Franklin Herndon — an entrepreneur, philanthropist and former slave — founded Atlanta Life in 1905. The company now writes term life insurance, property and casualty insurance, group benefits and group reinsurance coverage.

Cade said in a comment on her new role, included in the Atlanta Life announcement, that the insurance industry needs change.

“Our utmost goal is to achieve this transformation while still serving the needs of vulnerable communities and communities of color,” Cade said.

Cade listing assessing how the COVID-19 pandemic has changed insurance pricing, service and accessibility for minorities as one of her top goals.

“Insurance companies are in the center of the storm when it comes to COVID-19, but the pandemic opened our eyes to areas that needed adjusting,” Cade said. “Making these modifications now will drive permanent change for the better.”

Cade cites leveraging technology to reach people across multiple demographics as another top goal.

Cade previously was head of business-to-business brand and strategy integration at Aflac. Before that, she was the head of Aflac’s internal operations legal team.

She has also worked as an attorney at several law firms, including Carver, Darden, Koretzky, Tessier, Finn, Blossman & Areaux in New Orleans. While she was in New Orleans, she started  the Louisiana Association of Black Women Attorneys.

For more than three years, Cade was the general counsel at Morehouse College.
