Policygenius, an on-line insurance broker, says the cost of the term life policies sold through its site were about the same Dec. 1 as they were Nov. 1, in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic and news of the approval of COVID-19 vaccines.

Policygenius started posting price index data monthly reports in September.

The report provides average monthly premium data from 11 carriers that sell individual life coverage through Policygenius. It includes prices for 20-year term coverage for applicants ages 25, 35, 45 and 55, broken down by sex, for coverage amounts of $250,000, $500,000 and $1 million coverage.

Policygenius assumes that the applicants qualify for preferred health pricing, but there are separate tables for smokers and nonsmokers.

The lowest price in the new tables, for a 25-year-old female nonsmoker, with $250,000 in coverage, is $14.23, up from $14.22.

The highest price in the tables, for a 55-year-old male smoker, with $1 million in coverage, is $1,036.84. The highest price in the tables is unchanged from what it was Nov. 1.
