Northwestern Mutual and Great American are both trying to use videos to increase annuity awareness...

1. Northwestern Mutual's "Spend Your Life Living" campaign

Northwestern Mutual posted 4 videos in this campaign Thursday.

2. Great American's "Creating Great Retirements" campaign

"Creating Great Retirements: Meet Sid" is the latest installment in Great American's campaign.

Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company launched a new advertising campaign Saturday.

The Milwaukee-based company is promoting the Northwestern Mutual brand with four ads based on the company’s 3-year-old “Spend Your Life Living” slogan.

Northwestern Mutual began using the Spend Your Life Living slogan in December 2017.

The company is delivering the new ads through digital media and social media services as well as with broadcast and cable television shows.

Aditi Javeri Gokhale, Northwestern Mutual’s chief commercial officer, said in an announcement about the new ads that the company wants to show consumers how financial planning can help clients enjoy life today.

Northwestern Mutual developed the new ads together with GSD&M of Austin, Texas. The company is running the ads with college football games  and with news, lifestyle and entertainment programming.

The spots will also be featured during live New Year’s coverage on ABC and CNN, including ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” and during the 2020 Rose Bowl Game, according to Northwestern Mutual.

Northwestern Mutual will be the presenting sponsor for the Rose Bowl Game.

In other life insurance company video news, the Great American Insurance Group annuity units have introduced a video series based on the slogan “Creating Great Retirements.”

The videos feature financial professionals talking about how clients can succeed, and about how they focus on their clients’ needs.

Donna Carrelli, a divisional vice president at Great American, said in the campaign announcement that the Cincinnati-based company is thankful for the thousands of financial professionals that choose to work with it.

“We wanted to provide a simple and engaging way for advisors to share their experiences, not only with us, but with their peers as well,” Carrelli said. “These videos, and the surrounding promotional campaign, provide a platform to do that.”

The company is trying to start a dialog with financial professionals by encouraging financial professionals who visit the campaign website to share their own secrets for success.

In February, the company launched another video series, the “Great Retirements” series. That series of videos features Great American annuity customers talking about what they love about retirement.

The videos in the first series have received about 300,000 views on YouTube, according to Great American.
