The department has been located at 215 W. Main St. in Frankfort.

The department will be devoting Nov. 26 and Dec. 2-3 to moving, the department says in a notice on its website.

The department might take 24 hours to return calls placed on those days, officials say.

The new building is on the site of the old Capitol Plaza Tower and other structures. The building was imploded in 2018 to make room for the state office project, state officials say.

The commonwealth of Kentucky is moving about 1,500 state employees into the 380,000-square-foot building.

State cabinet secretaries gathered in front of the new building’s sign in August to announce the building’s name. They decided to name it the Mayo-Underwood Building after a school that was on the site before the construction of Capitol Plaza Tower.
