Rey Perez to Lead Key National Western Life Subsidiary

Kitty Nelson will continue to be a member of the parent company's board.

Rey Perez will be taking over as the president and chief operating officer of National Western Life Insurance Company Jan. 1, National Western Life Group Inc. announced Tuesday.

National Western Life Insurance Company is a major subsidiary of National Western Life Group Inc.

Ross Moody will continue to be the chairman, president and chief executive officer of the parent company.

Kitty Nelson, the current president and COO, will become a special advisor to the company, and she will continue to serve on the National Western Life board, according to National Western Life Group.

Nelson has been president of the life insurance subsidiary since October 2016. Before that, she was the company’s chief actuary.

Perez has been the life subsidiary’s chief legal officer, and he has been helping to run the company for the past year, according to National Western Life Group.

Perez has a bachelor’s degree in finance and a law degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
