BNY Mellon Names Head of New Digital Post

BNY Mellon's CEO said that the former BCG digital guru “is a digital transformation expert."

BNY Mellon said Wednesday that it has appointed Roman Regelman to head its digital operations, a new role.

Regelman, who will become senior executive vice president and Head of Digital effective Sept. 17, will report to BNY Mellon Chairman and CEO Charles Scharf, and join the firm’s executive committee.

A 25-year veteran in digital, operations and management consulting who’s also launched several fintechs, Regelman hails from Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where he co-led the group’s Financial Institutions Digital business as a partner and managing director.

“BNY Mellon is looking at new ways to provide services to our clients and drive dramatically improved quality and efficiency,” said Scharf, in a statement. “Roman is a digital transformation expert who will enable us to be bolder in our approach and more consistently find better solutions for our clients. He is passionate about finding new ways of working, and his deep knowledge of the financial services space will help us accelerate our growth.”

Regelman will set the strategic direction for the firm’s digital future and invest in client and internal digital capabilities, including data management, analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics, BNY Mellon said.

He will also be charged with building a new global team by “developing and attracting” top digital talent.

Prior to BCG, he was a partner at Booz and Company.
