Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. recently made a deal of interest both to benefits brokers and, possibly, to long-term care planners: It acquired Lewis & Associates Brokers Inc.
Lewis & Associates is a Visalia, California-based firm that sells employee benefits and other insurance products to long-term care communities. The firm serves assisted living facilities, independent living communities and skilled nursing facilities, according to Gallagher.
Gallagher, which is based in Itasca, Illinois, says James Smallwood, Kevin Veitia and other Lewis & Associates veterans will stay at their current location.
Gallagher says it liked the firm because of its outstanding reputation and its niche capabilities.
The companies are not saying how much Gallagher paid for Lewis & Associates.
In other benefits and insurance deal news:
Marsh & McLennan Agency L.L.C., a unit of New York-based Marsh & McLennan Companies, has acquired iaCONSULTING of Lubbock, Texas, for a price that was not announced. The firm sells health insurance and other benefits products and services to midsize employers in Texas. Bill Hartsfield, the iaCONSULTING chief executive officers, and other employees of the firm will go to work for Marsh & McLennan.
