We all know the Department of Labor finalized the fiduciary rule in April 2016, but do you know the history of the rule? The proposal began in 2010 and stretched all the way into 2016. Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., had been the face of the rule, but in 2013 Thomas Perez, who took over as labor secretary, embarked on the renewed initiative to push the rule through.
