Recruiting news out of the wirehouses and other employee-advisor firms slowed down in late December, but recruiting announcements in the independent-advisor channel continue.

RDM Financial Group, Inc., a Westport, Connecticut-based investment advisor with $700 million under management, says it is becoming a partner of HighTower.

Ron Weiner, chief executive officer of RDM, says the group’s 15-person team will largely remain based at its offices in Westport and Boca Raton, Florida. But it plans to add a New York location within the 80-person office at HighTower’s headquarters.

“After 35 years in the industry and 26 running RDM Financial Group, I recognized the need for access to world-class resources, scale and a greater variety of solutions for my clients’ needs,” said Weiner in a statement. “Years of due diligence revealed that the HighTower platform is the ideal destination for me and my clients.”

Meanwhile, Ladenburg Thalmann-owned Securities America says Felix Jones joined it after leaving the Holmes Organisation, a division of HUB International in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he managed roughly $80 million in client assets.

Jones has more than 25 years of experience in employee benefits, with a specialty in reviewing and servicing 401(k) plans. He spent 22 years as a regional manager with the Principal Financial Group, where he assisted clients with group life and health insurance and 401(k) planning.
