I have been a podcast listener for several years now. Why? I receive personal on-demand audio information when and where I want.

If you are podcast listener, you know exactly what I mean. If you have never listened to a podcast, you may be thinking, “What in the world are you talking about?”

In a very basic sense, a podcast is simply on-demand radio that you can listen to from your computer, tablet, or mobile device. Although almost all podcasts have a home in iTunes, you can listen to podcasts in multiple forms (more about that later).

The power of a podcast is that you choose the time you listen, what you listen to, and how long you want to listen for. If you get interrupted or have to stop listening, you can resume right where you left off.

As an insurance agent, I was always looking for ways to improve my skills in the areas of productivity, sales, communication, marketing, business, or personal development. Podcasts have turned my commutes into learning jam sessions and my showers into “power showers.”

I want to share my top five podcasts that can be most beneficial to any insurance agent. Some of these are directly related to the insurance industry and others are more general, but all of them provide tremendous value with each listen.

1. Agency Nation Radio

This podcast, hosted by Ryan Hanley and Marty Agather at Trustedchoice.com, is a new podcast, but if you are an insurance agent trying to gain leverage in your marketplace this is a must listen. Topics range from insurance marketing, sales, automation, and how to achieve more growth for your agency. This podcast is fun and informative.

2. The EntreLeadership Podcast

This podcast is part of financial guru, Dave Ramey’s organization. It is focused to help small business with leadership and business strategies.

I look forward to new episodes of this podcast every week as it is well produced, entertaining, and always filled with a tip or two that I can apply to my business immediately. They also bring on some big time guests like Mark Cuban, Seth Godin, Jim Collins, and Simon Sinek.

3. Agent’s Influence Podcast

This is a podcast for insurance agents, by insurance agents. My friend Jason started this podcast a couple years ago because he has a passion to help insurance agents succeed.

This podcast gives you a voice whether you are an agent, agency owner, or industry professional. There are new topics each month such as insurance marketing, insurance company relationships, industry trends, and real stories that you can learn from.

4.  The School of Greatness with Lewis Howes

If you desire to get better in any aspect of your life, you will love to soak up this podcast. Created by Lewis Howes, former professional athlete turned lifestyle entrepreneur, this podcast will cover topics such as family, love, motivation, success, health, and business.

5. This is Your Life with Michael Hyatt

I have been a fan of Michael Hyatt for many years. I have been a faithful listener since this podcast was launched several years ago.

This podcast is dedicated to intentional leadership. The goal is to help you live with more passion, work with greater focus, and lead with extraordinary influence. There is a reason that this podcast is so popular.

5.9. The BizzGrizz Podcast

Ok, we haven’t released this podcast yet, but it’s coming. I want to provide a podcast experience that provides as much value as possible to help insurance agents across this country and beyond. The goal is provide tools and ideas with marketing, sales, and productivity. I will bring in guests who will share their story and offer new insights.

How and where do I consume all of these podcasts?

There are multiple platforms, apps, and devices to consume podcasts. My favorite is Stitcher Radio.  I listen to 99 percent of podcasts on Stitcher because it’s easy, it crosses platforms, and it works from anywhere. You can also download Stitcher right to your smartphone and download your favorite podcasts for offline listening. I can listen on my computer and resume an episode from my smartphone in my car.

Now start listening so you can get smarter, have fun, and make more money!
