American Independent Marketing (AIM) announced that it will be re-launching its flagship agent-focused website, WhyAIM.com, as a free platform of insurance sales tools. Driven by customer demand, insurance sales are becoming more technology-driven. To support agents in this transition, AIM has developed WhyAIM.com. The website offers a comprehensive platform of sales tools, online resources and educational materials. Additionally, AIM is providing agents with marketing materials including direct mail campaigns, pre-written email templates and sales-focused agent websites. All agents need to do is create a free account on whyaim.com.

Benefitfocus, Inc. (NASDAQ: BNFT), a leading provider of cloud-based benefits software solutions, announced the signing of a reseller agreement with SAP (NYSE: SAP). SAP will resell BENEFITFOCUS® Marketplace as the SAP® U.S. Benefits Management application by Benefitfocus. Through this agreement, SAP will offer customers in the U.S. a powerful, end-to-end human capital management solution that improves benefits administration efficiency and platform user experience throughout the employee lifecycle. SAP U.S. Benefits Management by Benefitfocus – scheduled to be available soon from SAP – is a cloud application that will complement SAP’s market-leading core human resources and talent management solutions and help its customers with U.S. employee benefits enrollment and management.

Over the last decade, Legal & General America’s tele-application program, AppAssist, has continued improving and streamlining the life application process for agents and customers. Agents drop a simple ticket, and AppAssist takes the administrative burden of application fulfillment and case management from an agency, allowing more time for marketing, finding new clients and matching their needs with the right coverage. The application and related forms are completed via a 30-minute telephone interview by the in-house call center. At the end of the interview, customers can give verbal approval to submit the application and schedule a paramedical exam.

LOMA announced the awarding of the Fellow, Life Management Institute® (FLMI) designation to its 100,000th recipient, accentuating the positive impact the FLMI insurance education program has had on industry employees and organizations worldwide. The FLMI program is the world’s largest university-level education program in insurance and financial services.  Established in 1932, the FLMI program teaches advanced insurance and financial concepts to build a deeper understanding of the insurance business. To earn the FLMI, candidates complete 10 rigorous courses that provide an industry-specific business education in the context of the insurance and financial services industry.

Retirement savers can now tap into their MassMutual RetireSmartSM account information any time day or night by pressing the new MassMutual RetireSmart mobile app on their Apple® and AndroidTM smartphones. The free app is now available in the Apple App StoreSM and Google PlayTM app store to participants in a 401(k) or other defined contribution retirement plan who already access their account through MassMutual’s RetireSmart.com web site. The app can be downloaded by searching “RetireSmart” or “MassMutual” in the Apple or Google stores. The new app is part of a broader, multi-app mobile technology strategy. MassMutual will introduce additional apps during the course of the year to meet a wide range of goals, including continual improvement, ease of doing business, retirement education and motivating retirement plan savers to become more retirement ready.

AgentLink, a service provider to independent insurance agents, has named Rich Tinsley as incoming president. This follows the succession of Matt McDevitt – who will succeed his father, Randy McDevitt – to the position of CEO. The elder McDevitt will remain active in the organization, serving as Chairman of the Board. Tinsley, an attorney and CPA, comes to AgentLink from Signature Healthcare – where he served as chief development officer as well as vice chairman of the company’s home care and assisted living sectors. Prior to that, he served as chief development officer for ResCare and as their executive VP of Workforce Solutions operations. Tinsley has served on numerous nonprofit and for-profit boards; providing financial, accounting, legal and acquisition/divesture advice. He has a JD and an MBA from the University of Louisville, and is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant. 

Castlight Health, Inc. (NYSE:CSLT), a leader in enterprise healthcare management, announced that Jonathan Rende will join its executive leadership team as chief research and development officer. Rende brings over 20 years of experience in products, engineering and marketing within high profile technology companies. Most recently, Rende was the executive vice president of products and marketing at Keynote, a global leader in cloud-based testing, monitoring, and analytics for mobile and web applications. While there, he helped develop its brand and enhance the company’s product delivery with a customer-centric approach. Prior to Keynote, Rende was the vice president of products at Appcelerator, and was responsible for product strategy for the development, testing, monitoring and analytics solutions. He has also held various general manager and senior product roles at Hewlett-Packard, Mercury, and Informix.

Acting on its 10-year strategic marketing plan, The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company (Penn Mutual), continues to tactically enhance the 168 year-old brand. Penn Mutual announced the hiring of seasoned marketing executive Jeffrey Fleischman. Fleischman takes the reins as chief marketing and digital officer, and is a member of the company’s executive committee. Fleischman has an impressive record of leadership and execution of growth strategies for national and global brands like American Express, Monster, Citi and TIAA-CREF. In his role at Penn Mutual, he will be responsible for executive leadership of the corporate branding, marketing programs, market research, conferences and recognition, corporate communications and interactive marketing teams, Fleischman will help transform Penn Mutual’s digital presence to expand brand awareness, grow the business and improve the advisor and client experience.

Valley Insurance Agency Alliance (VIAA), a cohesive family of nearly 100 independent insurance agencies in Missouri and Southern Illinois, hired Grady Gamble as a Recruiter for Missouri. His responsibilities include the identification and recruitment of talented agencies to join the alliance. Grady also will implement a regional plan to pursue and enlist new partnerships with independent insurance agencies. Grady will focus on bringing the necessary resources and expertise to local agents so they can better protect their communities. Prior to joining VIAA, he had a successful career as an insurance and risk management advisor for Missouri families and businesses.
