Here are the top 10 cities for job seekers

For many, the beginning of a new year also means it’s time to start looking for a new job. According to a study just released by WalletHub, non-farm employment is expected to grow by nearly 220,000 jobs per month while unemployment should drop to around 5.4 percent by the fourth quarter of this year.

To help jobseekers, WalletHub analyzed 150 of the most populated cities in the U.S., examining 16 key metrics such as employment growth, monthly median starting salaries, lowest unemployment rates for high school graduates and housing affordability.

Among some of the key statistics in the study:

• Starting salaries vary depending on where you work. For example, the starting salary in San Jose, Calif., is three times higher than starting salaries in Laredo, Texas.

• There are a lot more part-time employees in Tallahassee, Fla., where the number is three times higher for every 100 full-time employees, than in Plano, Texas.

• While there are fewer part-time employees in Plano, the median annual income there is three times higher than in Newark, N.J.
