When employees need more than an advance on their paycheck

An employer providing one-on-one financial counseling to employees is not so different from the old adage: Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Today, one-quarter of companies offer this service to employees and more than half of companies offer one-on-one investment advice, according to a survey by the Society for Human Resource Management. Sometimes, employers grow tired of watching their employees make financial choices likely to have bad consequences.
