AIG is the latest insurer to settle allegations over unclaimed property. The “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy is common in the cable and wireless industries, but there are those who believe this practice in the insurance industry crosses the ethical line. Or does it? Is a cable company not informing customers about a rate increase any different than not paying a beneficiary the remainder of a loved one’s policy?
