It looks as if Hurricane Isaac is serious enough to, if nothing else, make people who boarded up their windows, brought in water and stocked up on flashlight batteries feel smart about preparing for the storm.
The Weather Channel reported that, in at least one area, the storm surge was about 16 feet high. People in the area are reporting on Twitter and elsewhere that the water is up to the rooftops in some areas.
