3in4 Gets More Ink

Organizers of the 3in4 Need More long-term care insurance (LTCI) promotional campaign say the 3in4 bus is still attracting plenty of media attention.

The 3in4 Association, Kirkland, Wash., talks about the latest campaign coverage in a weekly media update.

The association has put Marion Somers, a geriatric care manager and LTCI advocate, at the wheel of a bus. The bus is touring America to spread the idea that 3 in 4 Americans need to do a better job of planning for long-term care (LTC) expenses.

The association is trying to spice up the campaign by doing home makeovers and running a national talent contest for caregivers and seniors. The talent contest grand prize will be a year of living rent-free housing in a “senior living” community operated by Emeritus Corp., Seattle (NYSE:ESC), a bus tour sponsor.

The bus was on the West Coast a few weeks ago, and the association reports that West Coast broadcast, print and Web news organizations are still coming out with coverage based on that leg of the tour.

In Long Beach, Calif., for example, the Daily News, the Daily Breeze and the Press-Telegram all have run print newspaper cover stories on the tour and the home makers, the association says. Those publications have a combined circulation of about 245,000.

A CBS affiliate in Omaha ran an interview on the tour and contest May 24.

On the same day, KYMN, a 1,000-watt radio station in Minneapolis, ran an interview with Dr. Marion on a show aimed at caregiver, the association says.

The association says a CNBC reporter recently interviewed Dr. Marion about caregiving and the 3in4 tour and could come out with coverage in the next few weeks.
