A few years ago, I advised a client to get involved in the community. I told him (and countless others) “Get involved in the religious, political, social, and charitable activities of your community. Be a good citizen.”
“Get involved in Rotary,” was my advice to Bill Pickens of Memphis, Tenn. In Rotary, he took on the challenge of the “Gift of Life” program for his district. Under his watch, the hearts of 30 children from around the world have been mended.
Sometimes little ideas are life changing. Sometimes they are life saving.
Here is an email I received from Bill. I share it with you because I’m proud of him, and while it is said “Pride goeth before the fall,” I think I’ll risk the fall and say, “I’m proud of me.”
Four words. “Get involved in Rotary.” Thirty lives made whole and who knows how these lives will pay forward the goodness they received from Bill Pickens. What goes around …

I just Googled myself a little while ago. The first one that came up is “Bill Pickens; Wealth Management …” The next three were for my work with Gift of Life in Rotary.
The best advice I got from you was to get involved in Rotary. They make no bones about it being a place to network, in addition to community service.
