Registered investment advisors on the go can now use TD Ameritrade Institutional’s Veo mobile app to make trades on their iPads, TDAI announced Wednesday. In addition, the Veo platform has been optimized so RIAs can view the mobile app, but not trade, from any smartphone.

New iPad features for advisors who sign on to the Veo mobile app include trading capabilities, consolidated and single-client account views and live streaming CNBC news. iPads users can trade mutual funds, ETFs and equities via Veo. They also have access to real-time quotes, stock-watch lists and research.

Advisors logging on to the new Veo app through their smartphones will now be able to view real-time client account balances, transactions and client profile information as well as quotes, news and alerts.

Jon Patullo, technology product managing director at TDAI“Enhanced mobile features such as trading and real-time accounts balances give advisors the ability to stay connected, be more efficient and quickly respond to the markets and their clients’ needs regardless of where they are or what mobile device they’re using,” said Jon Patullo (left), managing director of technology product management at TD Ameritrade Institutional, in a statement.

Existing Veo mobile app for iPad users were notified that an update is available for download on Wednesday. RIAs when logging in are now automatically re-directed to the Veo mobile site from their smartphone web browsers. The site can also be accessed at m.advisorservices.com. Advisors not yet using the application can download the Veo mobile app for free at www.itunes.com/appstore.

TDAI initially launched the Veo mobile app for iPads a year ago, on April 11, and waited until 2012 to scale down the app for smartphone use. In coming months, advisors can expect to use Veo to place orders, submit cash management requests and make account updates.

“We are dedicated to expanding our mobile tools to provide advisors with better choices, efficiency and flexibility in the solutions they use to run their business,” said Chris Martin, senior manager of TDAI technology product management, in a statement.
