Can job-seekers make any progress during the holiday rush? Conventional wisdom says no — many offices keep holiday hours and hiring managers, like everyone else, are juggling a lot right now. But the Wall Street Journal’s Lauren Weber argues that there’s still plenty of reasons to keep your search alive through the holiday season. For one, some companies have year-end budgets to use up, which puts them on a tight timeframe to find a qualified worker. For another, the holidays are a natural time to network. So, which industries are hiring? Many are commission-based, including insurance, sales, and financial planning.
