U.S. workers say they are more optimistic about their long-term financial future than they were a year ago, but retirees say they are more worried.
Principal Financial Group Inc., Des Moines, Iowa (NYSE:PFG) has published data supporting that conclusion in a summary of results from a survey of 1,150 employees and 549 retirees that was conducted in July and August.
Principal commissioned a similar survey in the summer of 2010.
The percentage of working participants who said they are very concerned about their long-term financial future fell to 68%, from 75% a year earlier, and the percentage who said they are feeling extremely happy about their current financial well being increased to 27%, from 19%.
