Members of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) have picked a 2012-2013 president who says she wants to make a priority of creating and promoting new areas of actuarial practice.
Manning will serve as president-elect while waiting to become president in October 2012, at the SOA’s annual meeting in Washington.
Manning is an actuary at the U.S. Treasury Department, where she works on projects involving employee plans, according to the SOA, Schaumburg, Ill.
Before Manning went to work for the Treasury Department, she spent 22 years at the consulting arm of Aon Corp., Chicago (NYSE:AON), and she was the chief actuary for the U.S. retirement practice.
She has been vice president of the SOA.
Manning has a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She lives in Winston-Salem, N.C.
