UnitedHealthcare is taking special measures to help insureds who have been living in counties or parishes affected by the flooding along the Mississippi River.

UnitedHealthcare, a unit of UnitedHealth Group Inc., Minnetonka, Minn. (NYSE:UNH), says:

- Displaced insureds should call the regular customer care numbers on their insurance cards for help with problems getting access to in-network physicians and facilities.

- Insureds who cannot reach their usual pharmacies or get medications through the usual mail-order pharmacy arrangements can have early prescription refills.

In related news, UnitedHealthcare notes that it has a standing commitment to give $500,000 per year to the American Red Cross to help with the organization’s disaster relief efforts.
