Personnel Changes: Aetna, Aon, Philadelphia Financial, GenSpring

Aetna Inc., Hartford, Conn., has hired Cain Hayes to be head of its public and labor business.

Hayes previously was senior vice president and chief sales officer for nationwide retirement solutions at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, Columbus, Ohio.

He has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Drake University and a master’s degree in business from Webster University.

Aon Corp., Chicago, has promoted current chief information officer Steve Betts to global chief information officer.

Betts has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and management science from the University of Manchester.

Philadelphia Financial, Plymouth Meeting, Pa., has hired Ken Kilbane to be executive vice president of strategic initiatives.

Philadelphia Financial recently was spun off by the Phoenix Companies Inc.

Kilbane previously was president of international life operations at Transamerica, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla., a division of AEGON N.V., The Hague, Netherlands.

He has a bachelor’s degree in finance from California State University.

GenSpring Family Offices, Palm Beach, Fla., an affiliate of SunTrust Banks Inc., Atlanta, has hired Matt Pohlman to be wealth manager at its Chapel Hill, N.C. location.

Pohlman previously was director of client services at Franklin Street Partners, Chapel Hill.

Pohlman has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler School of Business.
