Genworth Financial Inc., Richmond, Va., has promoted current senior vice president and chief financial officer Patrick B. Kelleher to be president and chief executive officer (CEO) of retirement and protection and executive vice president of the company.
He will succeed Pamela S. Schultz, who announced she will be retiring in February 2011.
Kelleher joined Genworth in 2007. He has a bachelor’s degree from Franklin and Marshall College.
Genworth also announced it hired Kevin Walker to be senior vice president and chief financial officer of retirement protection, effective in December.
Walker previously was senior vice president of group planning and controlling at Allianz SE, Munich, Germany and senior vice president and senior financial officer of product lines for Allianz Life Insurance Company of America, Minneapolis.
Walker has a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University.

Unum Group, Chattanooga, Tenn., has promoted Al Riggieri to be senior vice president and chief actuary.
Riggieri previously was vice president and chief actuary for the company. He has a bachelor’s degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
New York Life Insurance Company, New York, has hired Benjamin Woloshin to replace Allyson McDonald as senior vice president and head of relationship management for New York Life’s Retirement Income Security (RIS) unit.
McDonald has assumed responsibility for the external sales operation of RIS.
Woloshin previously was vice president at Goldman Sachs Group Inc., New York, where he was responsible for institutional relationships in its reinsurance group.
Fidelity Capital Markets, the institutional trading arm of Fidelity Investments Inc., Boston, has hired Kevin J. Byrne to lead its transition management group.
Byrne previously was head of U.S. transition management group at ConvergEX Group, New York.
