Guardian Life Insurance Company of America has updated its critical illness insurance program.

Guardian, New York, employers who offer critical illness programs can now waive the pre-existing condition limitation on employer-paid plans with 10 or more lives.

Employees ages 69 years old and younger can take the coverage with them if they leave the employer.

Guardian also is making critical illness programs available to employers with 2 to15 employees.

A Guardian critical illness insurance policy can pay an employee who suffers a heart attack, stroke, cancer diagnosis, or other critical illness up to $50,000 in cash benefits.

When paired with a hospital admission rider, the plan can pay up to $500 per day for up to 10 days per year for an extended hospitalization due to a serious injury or illness not covered by the critical illness policy.

Guardian is selling critical insurance in most states, but it is not offering the product in California, Connecticut, Florida, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York or Vermont.
