Personnel Changes: Hartford, Assurant Health, Aflac, Allianz, First Mercantile, Dearborn, First Futurity, Entaire

The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford (NYSE:HIG) has named David Levenson to be president of wealth management.

Levenson will succeed John Walters, who is leaving the company, according to Hartford Financial, Hartford (NYSE:HIG).

“I want to thank John for his many contributions to the Hartford over the last 10 years,” Hartford Chairman Liam McGee says in a statement about Walters’ departure. “He managed the wealth management businesses during a period of significant growth, led Hartford Life during a particularly challenging period, and played a strong role in the development of the company’s strategy. We wish John well in his future endeavors.”

Levenson previously was an executive vice president in the company’s domestic variable annuity business and its institutional business.

Levenson has a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s in business administration from Columbia University. He holds the Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and Chartered Financial Analyst professional designations.

Levenson helped Hartford launch its mutual fund operations.

Assurant Health, Milwaukee, a unit of Assurant Inc., New York (NYSE:AIZ), has picked Mike Norderhaug to succeed Laura Hohing as a head of the sales organization at Assurant Health.

Hohing is retiring, according to Assurant Health.

Norderhaug, who has been a senior vice president at Assurant Health, will continue to a senior vice president. He will also be the unit’s executive sales officer.

Norderhaug holds the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant professional designations.

In related news, Scott Krienke, senior vice president – product lines, is becoming senior vice president – product and marketing. Debbie Kramer, the executive who has been handling marketing, is leaving the company.

- Aflac Inc., Columbus, Ohio (NYSE:AFL), has hired William Wright to be senior vice president, investment strategy and risk management.

Wright has been a consultant at Aflac since January.

Wright also has been executive vice president and chief investment officer for fixed income-insurance at GE Asset Management and an executive in other operations at the company now known as Genworth Financial Inc., Richmond, Va. He has chief investment officer at GE Edison Life Insurance Company, Tokyo.

- Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, Golden Valley, Minn., a unit of Allianz A.G., Munich, Germany, has hired Denise Settimi to be vice president of operations controls within the enterprise operations department.

Settimi previously was chief operating officer at Hartford. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

- First Mercantile Trust Company, Memphis, Tenn., a unit of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company Springfield, Mass., has hired Echo Robinson to be regional sales director for the Pacific region.

The company’s Pacific region includes Southern California, Southern Nevada and the state of Hawaii.

Robinson previously was a regional sales director in Hartford’s retirement services division.

- Dearborn National, a unit of Health Care Service Corp., Chicago, has hired Brad Fleiss to be national accounts sales director for the Western region.

Fleiss previously was Western region sales manager at Minnesota Life, a unit of Securian Financial Group, St. Paul, Minn. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Colorado State University.

- Futurity First Insurance Group Inc., Rocky Hill, Conn., an insurance distribution organization, has hired Keith Raymond to be vice president of information technology.

Raymond previously was assistant vice president of distribution systems and field technology in the U.S. insurance group at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, Springfield, Mass.

- Entaire Global Companies Inc., Duluth, Ga., has hired Daniel Courchesne to be senior vice president and director of strategic investments and financing.

Courchesne previously was managing director and head of the North American structured solutions group at Dresdner Kleinwort, London. He focused on “structured solutions for the insurance, corporate, fund and conduit space,” Entaire says.
