Personnel Changes: Munich American, New York Life, Others

Munich American Reassurance Company, Atlanta, appointed Dieter S. Gaubatz as vice president, biometric research.

Gaubatz comes to Munich from Swiss Reinsurance Company, where he served as vice president. Gaubatz serves on the Society of Actuaries Individual life experience committee.

In other personnel news:

New York Life Insurance Company has named Nancy Davenport vice president in its office of governmental affairs. Davenport previously was employed by JPMorgan Chase as a vice president. Davenport has also served as director of the Assembly Minority Counsel’s Office in the New York State Legislature in Albany, and as executive director and counsel for the New York State Legislative Ethics Committee. She holds a B.A. from Miami University Ohio and a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law.

Aetna Inc. appointed Kim A. Keck to head its investor relations. She will be replacing Jeffrey A. Chaffkin, who will be pursuing personal objectives. Keck will be accountable for maintaining relationships with the company’s investor and analyst communities. She has been with the company since 1988 leading its treasurer’s, controllers, actuarial, and tax organizations. Keck has a B.A. from Boston College and an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Connecticut.

The Berkshire Life Insurance Company of America appointed Gordon G. Dinsmore Jr. as President. Dinsmore is replacing Joan E. Bankroft, who is retiring as a 34-year veteran of the industry. Dinsmore’s new responsibilities include managing the risk and product portfolios for 2 product lines issued by Berkshire, Pittsfield, Mass., on behalf of its parent, Guardian Life Insurance Company, New York. Dinsmore previously was vice president and senior actuary at MetLife Inc., New York.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, Chicago, announced the retirement of its president, Paul S. Boulis, effective Dec. 31. During his tenure, BCBSIL, a division of Health Care Service Corp., a Mutual Legal Reserve Company, grew to more than 7 million members and 30,000 employer groups and offer a network of more than 29,000 health care providers. Boulis joined BCBSIL in 1984. Before serving as president, he served in the company’s national division for 17 years as both vice president and senior vice president.
